A rural guest house with rooms for 6 guests, in the centre of the medieval town of Vistabella del Maestrat, in Penyagolosa Natural Park.
The Caseta del Forn was a corral and hay loft, and was also home to a wood oven for use by the family. The property was restored for use as a rural guest house, to provide you with all the comforts of a 21st century hotel, but in surroundings full of environmental and historical treasures.
The house consists of a ground floor, two upper floors and an attic. The ground floor contains a salon with a fireplace, a tourist information point and a service bathroom with washing machine. The first floor contains the kitchen-dining room, equipped with all domestic appliances and a comfortable sofa. The second floor contains a double room with a double bed and a completely separate bathroom. Finally, the attic consists of an open space with a double bed and a sofa-bed separated by a curtain from another one and a half bed.
We offer guests agro-tourism activities, and outings to find black truffles and mushrooms.
You'll have the opportunity in the truffle outings to find out more about the "black diamonds" of our mountains. You'll be accompanied by an expert truffle hunter and his truffle dog, you'll see how the dog finds the truffles, discover what a truffle is, where, how and when they are produced and how to gather them, and how to use them in the kitchen. You'll also have the chance to get fresh ones. The truffles of Vistabella are amongst the best in the world, thanks to the altitude (highest municipality where they are gathered in Valencia), climate and almost untouched farmland.
The mushroom outings will teach you how to distinguish between the good and the not so good ones. You'll enter the forests of Penyagolosa in search of the most common mushrooms, and also to find more highly valued fungi such as the local níscalos, setas de cardo and boletus edulis. A highly recommended activity for beginners or persons who have little or no experience in mushroom picking.
We also offer guided visits to Vistabella and the monuments declared sites of public interest, such as the church, portals and walls or the sanctuary of Sant Joan de Penyagolosa.
