Canoes and Quad Bikes for all in Cofrentes

I went to Cofrentes to… Come alive with my family!

We bought a complete package that included a descent in canoe down the peaceful water of the river Cabriel and an experience on the back of an electric quad bike. We also included a night's stay in a rural hotel in the valley, with breakfast included. We decided not to include full board at the hotel because I'd been told about the wonderful food just waiting to be sampled in the Valle de Cofrentes, and so I thought it would be a good opportunity to discover it in the company of my wife and children of 11, 9 and 6 years.

As soon as we got to the hotel, we got our stuff together and headed off to the meeting point where the first activity was ready and waiting for us. We arrived at the canoeing base, where they gave us all the material we needed for the activity along with a short but intense course on how to use canoes in the water. We had a lot of fun with them, because they let us wander along the water routes and enjoy the views of the river Cabriel and the Castle of Cofrentes, pure unadulterated nature! We were accompanied and guided by monitors all along the way. They made us feel really safe throughout the two-hour long trip.

After enjoying a delicious typical lunch at a restaurant in the Valle, we headed off to do some trekking in the Volcán Cerro de Agras, a trip where you discover the very origins of planet Earth. The big surprise wasn't just the minerals, volcanic rock and ash we saw along the way, it was the chance to experience a kaleidoscope of colour under an evening sun as we walked up to the crater of the volcano to see the tremendous views.

We returned to Cofrentes and went for a walk around the centre, a clean, beautiful place, full of the history, smells and flavours of a village. And so it was only natural that we started to feel peckish and had dinner right there: oxtails, pigs' ears, potatoes in spicy sauce, mixed grill with delicious cured meats and fried eggs. It was all delicious! And then, off to the hotel for a good night's rest.

The following day we got up ready for more. We had breakfast at the hotel and went off for the next contracted activity: the electric quad bike. My wife and I were able to share the first experience on a bike with the children on a guided tour with quad bikes, which went round an estate with all the safety measures needed to make the experience a totally secure one and where we could put our daring and skills to the test. Before setting off, the monitor explained how to use and ride the quad bikes and away we went, overcoming all kinds of natural obstacles, without taking any unnecessary risks and always respecting the natural surroundings. The trip lasted just over an hour and was exciting, different and great fun.

A weekend full of emotions and adventure with all the family, including a spectacular descent in a canoe through peaceful waters and an adrenalin-filled ride on an electric quad bike.
