The city of Elche offers you long beaches, two World Heritage Sites and 14 sports facilities right by the sea
Football: Elche has top quality sports facilities for football. The Sport City Juan Ángel Romero has seven artificial pitches, one grass pitch and three futsal courts (one is indoors in the Esperanza Lag pavilion). Other courts are available at the Altabix sports complex (the old facilities for Kelme C.F.), as well as in other sports facilities at Carrús and El Toscar. Elche C.F. is the local team and its stadium, Martínez Valero, has seating for 36,017 spectators.
Tennis: Elche has many public and private facilities for tennis. Most are clay courts and are in the city's public sports complex and the Kelme Sports City, which is home to the Club Ilicitano de Tenis.
Athletics: Manolo Jaén athletics track is near the city's public sports complex. The Elche Half Marathon is held every year in early April, an ideal time for middle-distance runners thanks to the lower temperatures.
Swimming: Esperanza Lag pavilion in the city's public sports complex has an Olympic pool (50 metres), while the sports complexes of Carrús (in the northern part of the city) and El Pla (in the south) have semi-Olympic pools (25 metres). All three are indoor and heated. The long beaches of Elx are host to open water swimming competitions that bring together thousands of participants, such as the events at Arenales – Santa Pola, Tabarca – Santa Pola and La Marina-El Pinet.
MTB/BMX: Miguel Hernández Univertisy in Elche has a modern track for BMX where courses and international competitions are held.
Nautical sports: The constant Mediterranean winds, the wealth of marine life and a coast open to the sea make the nine kilometres of local beaches a highly attractive location for nautical sports.
Golf: There are three links near the city. Alenda Golf, Font del Llop and El Plantío.
